This is the post excerpt.

Too often we forget where we come from….I see this everyday at the Assisted Living Facility, where I visit my mom. I see so many lonely older adults that rarely have visitors and it saddens me. It took me a long time and great trepidation to realize that it was time for my mom, only in her early seventies, to join the ranks of those that need help with their activities of daily living.

Now that she is fully immersed in the assisted living culture, I find that there is a whole entire dimension of problems that come along with it.

Since, I have turned over her care to another, there are rules and regulations that I have to follow, when things are going as I would like. For example, if Care Assistants are not doing their job, or if some members of the staff treat residents poorly, I have to follow the rules to make it known and to air my grievances.

This forum I have created is for those that have parents or grandparents, friends, or other relatives living in an assistant living community, who see or hear things at the facility that bother them. For those, that feel that their loved ones are not getting the proper care that they need, or for those they want to just vent their frustrations with the decision they made to move a family member into a assisted living facility.

It is also for those that are in the process of looking for a facility and want to discuss the important requirements to look for.
